The second volume narrates how Old Shatterhand and Old Death track the kidnapper of a lunatic poet, beat a gang of the Ku Klux Klan and how they get trapped with some Comanches by the Apaches; how the murderer of the family of Old Firehand is punished for his deeds and, finally, how Old Shatterhand and Winnetou fall into the hands of Santer.

The third volume narrates how Old Shatterhand and Sans-ear chase the bandits Fred and Patrick Morgan, how Old Shatterhand tracks a pack of railtroublers, who ally with the Ogellallah; how Winnetou is killed in action, how Old Shatterhand looks for the testament of his blood-brother, and how the scoundrel Santer faces his deserved end.

The fourth volume narrates how Old Shatterhand, 30 years after the death of Winnetou, gets in contact with the Santer's sons, how he returns to America where a Winnetou-monument shall be risen, where a Winnetou-clan has been founded and Winnetou City ist to be established.
